Rules and Regulations

PLEASE NOTE additional rules & regulations will be added. Final Rules & Regulations will be given at the Captain's Meeting and explained in detail.

1. At least one representative from each crew must attend the Captain's Meeting, Thursday, June 19, 2008 (7:00 PM @ Sharky's)

2. Mako and Threshers only. One shark per day/per boat. Minimum weight 150 lbs for Mako / 200 lbs. for Thresher

3. No Tournament boundaries.

4. This event is run in accordance w/all current state and federal rules and regulations.

5. Fishing days will be June 20, 21, & 22 (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday). Boats may fish 2 out 3 days (Captain's Choice). Boats will be considered fishing unless lay day ticket is handed in by 10:00 am.

6. All boats must start from and return to Cape May Inlet. All boats will be issued a boat # @ time of registration.

7. Boats may not pass the Cape May Inlet before 5:30 am on their chosen fishing days.

8. Weigh station will open @ 4:00 pm on Friday & Saturday and @ 3:00 on Sunday. Participants are responsible for getting their shark to the weigh-in themselves (via boat or truck). Scales will close @ 7:00 pm Friday and Saturday and 6:00 pm on Sunday.

9. All sharks must be caught on rod & reel. IGFA all tackle rules apply except that fish may be shot with gun or bangstick after they have been wired. Use of harpoons are also permitted. The use of mammal blood or flesh is prohibited.

10. Maximum of 6 anglers per boat and maximum of 6 lines in the water at one time.

11. Boats shall not fish within one half (1/2) mile another boat. While under way, please avoid established chum slicks and pass wind of other fishermen.

12. POSITIVELY NO TRANSFERRING OF SHARKS BETWEEN VESSELS.

13. Sharks to be weighed in should be brought to the scales in their natural state. No jaws wired.

14. The Tournament Committee has the right to retain all eligible sharks for internal inspection by the Tournament Committee and/or a marine biologist.

15. VHF, Channel 71 will be used for all tournament related communications. Please keep it clear. Channel 70 will be utilized as a first alternate.

16. All contestants participate, fish, and sail at their own risk! The Captain and crew are solely responsible for deciding whether or not to fish (please refer to #5 regarding lay day ticket).

17. There is no "Weather Day". Any Captain concerned about the safety of his crew and vessel due to severe weather conditions may apply for a refund from the Tournament Committee. Request for a refund will only be accepted at the Captain's Meeting or up until 5:30 am, Friday, June 23. Refunds are subject to a $100.00 administrative fee. Maritime law prevails.

18. The Tournament may be cancelled, postponed, or extended to other dates by the Tournament Committee.

19. In the event that the Tournament is cancelled, or no eligible sharks are landed, winners will be determined by a drawing from a hat. There will be no refunds.

20. In the case of a tie, the first fish weighed in will take the position.

21. In the event that all 3 places are not filled, the remaining prize money will be split proportionately between the other winners.

22. All Tournament Committee decisions are final.

23. All winners must submit their Social Security number and/or Corporate ID number prior to the award of prize money.

24. Checks will be made out to the entrants name listed on the application form unless a note, signed by the entrant requests otherwise.

25. Every boat entered must be equipped with a working VHF radio and all USCG mandatory safety equipment.

26. Your Captain's Bag (provided by SeaTow) will contain an additional copy of these Rules & Regulations.

All contestants must read the rules and regulations and agree to abide by them.
